Product description

The famous historian richard g.

The fourth book of the 14-volume series 'historical cities and armenians', compiled by hovannisian, is about izmir, this cosmopolitan port city, 13. It looks at the history of the armenians, one of the most important actors in the commercial, cultural and social life of izmir from the middle of the century to 1922.

the book examines not only the commercial and interethnic relations, educational and cultural works, and architecture, but also the literary works and translations of izmir armenians, whose printing activities shaped the 'enlightenment period'. What happened in izmir during and after the first world war and the 1922 fire are discussed in an article in the testimonies of izmir armenians, and in another article in the writings of henry miller and ernest hemingway who were in izmir during this period. Under the historical cities and armenians series, which helps us understand the multi-layered history of anatolia, the volumes 'bitlis and muş', 'van' and 'harput' have been previously published.
