Arkadaş Yayıncılık Madame Bovary

Product description

Enriched edition of thierry laget containing a preface and a dossier on the novel.

this is the story of an unhappy woman, of her mediocre husband, of her selfish and vain lovers, of her dreams, of her illusions, of her death.

it's the story of a narrow-minded, devout and bourgeois province.

this is also the history of the french novel.

rien, in this painting, had nothing to shock the society of the second empire.

mais, inexorable comme une tragédie, flamboyant comme un drame, mordant comme une comédie, le livre s'était donné une arme redoutable : le style.

for this real crime, flaubert found himself in correctional court.

aucun roman n'est innocent : celui-là moins qu'un autre.

lire madame bovary, in the 21st century, is to confront the scandal that represents a work as sincere as imperious.

in each of his sentences, flaubert poured a dose of this arsenic that emma bovary poisons herself with: it is a book offensive, corrosive, whose irony offends all our values, and even literature, which has never really recovered from it.
