Laboratory studies in 2011 indicated that products containing Polyquaternium‑15, such as Astroglide Warming Liquid, may promote the replication of HIV‑1 in lab cells and reduce epithelial cell layer integrity by up to 60% within two hours due to its hyperosmolar properties.

However, in-vitro results require further clinical confirmation for in-vivo effects.

Warnings: Potential risk to epithelial tissue integrity with prolonged use and possible growth of HIV in lab conditions.

Use carefully, especially for individuals susceptible to sexually transmitted infections.

Discontinue use upon irritation or tissue damage.
