Ayrıntı Yayınları Aşk-ı Memnu

Product description

Peyker's henchman had been a blow to him-yi muhah [awesome blow]. As soon as the matter came up, she rebelled against her daughter's idea [idea of marriage]. As peyker intended, he was looking at a lover's lover [lover's marriage] with an unforgivable crime of evil eye. He tried for a while not to comply

Then, peyker showed consent with a surrender-i spectacle [a surrender as if his throat had been cut], with all his forces against the threat of escape. . . What does halid ziya say in this unforgettable novel, in which numerous articles and theses have been written? In my opinion, halid ziya did not write aşk-ı memnu to defend a thesis. Telling the story of a forbidden love with a tragic ending is not the only problem. There are issues that he thinks about and wants his readers to think about. The way and style of handling these matters have also been chosen with the utmost care. In the renewal process that started with the tanzimat edict, the issues that novelists most frequently focus on include relationships between women and men, and especially marriage. The authors have tried to identify the dynamics of these that do not violate the rules of the muslim ottoman, and to raise awareness of the people with their strength. The literati of the edinat-i fünûn have reflected through their works how this relationship and marriages were experienced in the upper-middle social class, including themselves. . . Halid ziya, aşk-ı memnu y, has been fabricated from the people and lives they witnessed, which are frequently encountered by the upper-middle social class to which he himself belongs. . .
