Ayrıntı Yayınları Michael Kohlhaas

Product description

In the mid-sixteenth century, on the banks of the havel river, there lived a horse merchant named michael kohlhaas, one of the most honorable and at the same time the most terrible men of his time.

this exceptional man, the son of a village teacher, had lived until the age of thirty as a model citizen.

he was still peacefully going about his business on his farm in his own village. He raised his children, whom his wife generously gifted him, as hardworking and faithful individuals with fear of god.

among his neighbors, there was not a single person who would not have been lucky enough to his help or honesty.

in short, if he had not strayed from the path for some virtue, the world would have called him no prayers.

but a sense of justice turned him into a bandit and a murderer.

In heinrich von kleist's story of michael kohlaas, which begins with the unfair confiscation of his two horses by a nobleman and, when he cannot obtain justice for himself through legal means, embarks on a heavy challenge process with feelings of revenge, constantly confronts the concepts of right and wrong, good and evil.

while he is a model citizen in every way, it is his essentially passionate personality for justice and his inability to tolerate injustice that turns kohlhaas into a murderer, a terrible person.

this immortal work, which strikingly reveals the helplessness of individuals in the face of corruption and hedonism of the dominant class, is still relevant...
