Product description
Fashion is one of the determining processes that surrounds us.
it also has a significant impact on the presentation of images of individuals, regions, cities and countries.
since the word fashion is one of the words that are frequently encountered in daily life, it is mostly ignored what it means when using the word. The fashion world appears as a realm of established fantasies, designed by star designers, magazine editors, and flashy and ostentatious outfits.
but fashion is not just about them.
yuniya kawamura enters the realm of fashion fantasies in this book, focusing on the structure of the fashion system, which creates and sustains our belief in fashion from the question of what fashion is as a phenomenon and concept.
kawamura, on the one hand, makes a reading of classical and current theories about fashion and, on the other hand, supports these readings with empirical data, while on the other hand, he builds a useful modabilim for social and human sciences.
modabilimi distinguishes fashion and clothing first and foremost and defines fashion as a corporatized system. Then, while discussing the myth of the star designer, he examines the elements that established the fashion system from production to consumption one by one.Modabilimi offers an opportunity to enter the sociological world of fashion for students today, when academic interest in fashion begins to revive in turkey.
“the work of yuniya kawamura offers a comprehensive and illuminating sweep of the fashion literature in the social sciences from the 19th century to the present.
the contribution of this book is enormous in the construction of fashion as a valid research and training issue in the social and human sciences.
