Book Come and See - Essays by محمد العلي Authors

Product description

The thinker Al-Ali adopted a specific writing style, namely the concise and remarkably focused short essay, inviting the reader to contemplate the text and read with a discerning and appreciative eye. Take, for example, the concept of beauty: he begins by defining it from a dictionary perspective, delving into its connotations and how it evolved from a literal to a figurative definition. He then guides the reader through various aesthetic images, whether poetic, philosophical, or fleetingly beautiful. He further explores the concept of beauty before the West and then its modern manifestations, not to mention the interventions of modernity, which, as a fluid vision, impacts all aspects of our daily lives and the concepts and phenomena we encounter. Therefore, Al-Ali rejects the definition of "postmodernity" as simply a modern-day civil society, a lifestyle, a way of thinking, and an aesthetic vision that is constantly evolving. Consequently, he argues that there is no clear dividing line between modernity and postmodernity.
