Book Dots on Letters with a Pen علي الوردي

Product description

Through this work, the book presents the reader with the core ideas that this scholar discussed in cultural gatherings and in his journalistic interviews, all revolving around the nature of the Iraqi personality and the characteristics of Iraqi society. It almost serves as a summary of all the books Al-Wardi authored, beginning with his booklet "The Personality of the Iraqi Individual" in the early 1950s, continuing through "The Preachers of the Sultans," and culminating in the final volume of his renowned encyclopedia, "Social Glimpses from the History of Modern Iraq." The book is a collection of articles Al-Wardi wrote for the newspaper "Al-Ittihad," published by the Iraqi Federation of Industries in the late 1980s, along with other ideas and opinions for which Al-Wardi was known in his treatment of Iraqi societal issues. Furthermore, the book indirectly offers vivid, unseen glimpses into Baghdad's cultural life before the American invasion of Iraq: the cultural gatherings held in some of the city's oldest homes, attended by leading figures in culture and literature, as well as some interested members of the public, where free, sometimes serious and calm discussions took place, and at other times lively and heated.
