Product description
The novel revolves around the Soldier's War. Two battalions of the British army landed in Dubai on December 23, 1910, and headed to the house of Sheikh Ahmed bin Dalmouk and the merchant Thani bin Khalaf to search for weapons they believed to be hidden there. They stormed the two houses, killed some of those inside, and climbed onto the roofs to prevent the Arabs from helping their brothers. The people of Dubai rushed to their aid, and a huge, bloody battle took place, in which dozens were killed and wounded. The heroine of the novel, poet Hidaya Al Sajoub, recalls the incident and the steadfastness of Sheikh Butti bin Suhail Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai at the time. She recounts important historical events in Dubai and the Arabian Gulf, including the fall of the islands of Lingah and Hanyam to the Persians. In addition, it depicts the reality of life and the living conditions of the people of Dubai at that time.
