CAN Between Wheels

Product description

Hans giebenrath, the protagonist of between the wheels, which also shares similarities with hermann hesse's own life story, lives in a small town in germany.

hans, a reserved but very talented young man, is the only candidate from the town to be shown to the boarding school exam opened by the state. After passing the exam, hans is waiting for hard working days.

his only goal is to succeed, not to be petty, and not to disappoint his family and those around him. However, hermann, whom he meets at school, changes his outlook on life and his forward-looking plans.

because for hermann, life is not built on study.

In 'the wheelers', where hesse criticizes the dominant educational system of the first half of the century he lived in, he starts from the idea that a person, as nature created, is like a cage where no order prevails, and opposes the attempt to forcibly confine the natural person within certain limits with the education given in schools. Hesse's humane and pacifist philosophy, as in all his works, is at the forefront in this novel.
