Product description

The dilemmas established in j. m. coetzee's novels are based on the south african reality of racial discrimination and colonialism, but they delve into the alienation and indifference of the individual in such a society.

In 1983, michael k, and in 1999, with his novels called shame, coetzee, who was the first author to be twice awarded the most respected literary prize of england, the booker prize, and also received the nobel prize for literature in 2003, describes the tragic dilemma of a character who is both physically and mentally distinct in michael k, facing conditions he cannot understand and control. The hero of the story, michael k, comes from the lineage of franz kafka's characters who could never understand the meaning of the pain they suffered. Coetzee, whether black or white, is silently mourning the sorrow of south africa, which has turned its own children into addicts, rebels, and criminals.
