CAN Genç Mungo

Product description

Mungo hamilton and james jamieson live in the early 1990s in two separate glasgow neighborhoods, a world of excessive violence where working-class youth are divided by religious lines and fight to protect their reputations.

These two young men, who need to be considered as "real" men and are enemies of each other, become very good friends when they take refuge in the pigeon house built by james, discover affection, and dream of escaping from this unkind city.

mungo will have to make great efforts to keep his true identity from everyone around him. Douglas stuart, who enriches the daily lives of his characters with lyricism, reflects in this novel, from a human perspective, where religious and sexual conservatism can drag a person.

he speaks fluent in how class characteristics influence the judgments of value, how they lead the lives of people to different ends. A poignant novel about the meaning of manhood through the eyes of young mungo and the perils of loving someone, a story that navigates the delicate balance between romance and violence.
