Product description

Before America's entry into World War II, the streets of New York were boiling with the intense competition of anti-Semitic groups, while German immigrants boasted about Hitler as the man of the hour.

In this novel, 'Ulla Lenze' presents a moving story of a German immigrant's life after his involvement in a Nazi spy network in New York during World War II, shedding light on the espionage activities carried out by the Nazi regime in the United States, while clarifying the political entanglements of that time through the life story of Josef Klein, who was targeted by global powers in New York.

'The novel Amateur Radio covers a fascinating period of time shaped in a unique prose form.

' - The New York Times 'The impressive power of this novel lies precisely in that it raises questions but is not discussed in a penetratingly curious way.

Ulla Lenze is exactly like her hero, unreserved, telling the story without judgment or sermons, and in this way she creates space for her characters to come to life, transforming that part of her family's history into a literary story.

' - Süddeutsche Zeitung 'An exciting historical lesson discussing a chapter we don't know much about.

' - Berliner Morgenpost 'How did you succeed in writing about characters who lose their spirit and soul in such a way that we all find support and solace while reading!' - Author Lucy Frick 'Ulla Lenze wrote a great, intense, emotional, and at the same time unsentimental, completely true, correct, and honest piece of prose.

' - Author David Wagner
