It’s very easy. Here are the steps to get the best mist and lighting: Open the tank: Unscrew the top (head) from the clear bottom tank. Add water: Fill the tank with regular tap water or distilled water (avoid hot water). Do not exceed the maximum fill line. If this is your first time using the device, remove the “cotton wick” (white rod) from inside the plastic tube and soak it in water for two minutes until it is fully saturated, then put it back in place.
