About the Author – may God have mercy on him – Muhammad Hilmi bin Hussein bin Ali Al Saeed, a pioneering educator and brilliant calligrapher, is considered one of the most prominent educational and cultural figures in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the fourteenth Hijri century.
He had the honor of being the first Saudi to write with his own hand on the belt of the Holy Kaaba, by order of the founding King Abdulaziz Al Saud.
He became famous as the official calligrapher for the Ministry of Education, where he wrote school plaques and graduation certificates for decades.
He contributed to the development of formal education and managed the first Saudi scientific institute in Mecca.
He also developed the copy and Ruq'ah calligraphy notebooks prescribed in general education and was an official reference in detecting forged signatures and handwriting.
He received praise from kings, prominent literary figures, and scholars, becoming a symbol that combines education, art, and administration, and a living memory of a pivotal stage in the history of education and culture in the Kingdom.
The author's son and supervisor of the revised edition, Fouad Muhammad Hussein Hilmi Al Saeed, was born in Mecca and began his education in traditional schools (kuttabs) and the corridors of the Grand Mosque before continuing his studies in its schools.
He joined the College of Education in Mecca for two years, then transferred to King Abdulaziz Private University in 1389 AH, specializing in economics, and graduated in 1394 AH.
He worked as an economic researcher at the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency and contributed to preparing its annual reports.
In 1976, he was sent to the United States, where he earned a Master's degree in Economics and International Business Administration in 1980. He then returned to the Agency's headquarters in Riyadh, progressing through positions until he worked in the Investment Experts Department, then headed the Electronic Communications Department for ten years.
He retired early after thirty-three years of service, retaining his passion for culture and knowledge that had accompanied him since childhood.
