rousseau set me on the right path. This blinding prejudice has been eliminated

i've learned to respect people, and if i didn't believe this perspective could empower others to establish human rights, i would feel far less useful than just another ordinary worker.

"-immanuel kantJean-jacques rousseau is one of the most shocking and influential philosophers of the enlightenment thought.

the social contract, published in 1762, is considered one of the foundational texts not only of political philosophy, but also of modern democratic thought.

This work, which takes the source of sovereignty from god, the king or the dynasty and gives it directly to the people

It redefined the concepts of citizenship, liberty, and legitimacy, paving the way for the french revolution and leaving a lasting impact that continues to resonate in contemporary political discourse.

In this book, rousseau poses the question: how can individuals maintain their freedom while living in a society? he starts from the premise that "man is born free, but he is everywhere bound by the chains." It finds its answer in the concept of social contract, where individuals combine their wills in the interest of common good. This striking discussion on general will, laws, sovereignty, forms of government, and the limits of political authority clearly reveals the tension between the individual and society, and freedom and obedience, which remains relevant even today.
