Summary: We live a 'normal' life that some of us have become blind to and others have grown accustomed to, no longer finding it strange. It feels as if this situation has become our destiny, passed down from generation to generation: living as if we are alive while not actually living. And not even being aware that we are not alive. • &nbsp

When we look at life in Turkey, what do we see? • And furthermore, what does it mean to live 'as if'? It is the life of people who are unaware of the intent behind their thoughts

a life where their words, eyes, and actions do not align, a 'false' life. If you ask whether such people exist, just take a look around! You will see parents whose faces are stern, hurtful, and indifferent, even though their minds are filled with thoughts of helping their children

people who claim to be teachers yet never read a book. Moreover, the 'as if' life is gradually spreading to the entire society through the institutions created or run by people with this mentality: the bureaucracy formed to aid citizens is becoming specialized in being a hindrance

the institutions that are supposed to inspire trust become sources of insecurity

the laws enacted to ensure justice perpetuate injustices. In 'Mış Gibi' Lives, Doğan Cüceloğlu observes and analyzes the situations that are 'as if' from education to justice, traffic to parenthood and relationships, and reveals them. Being aware of 'as if' situations is the first step... Let us be aware and initiate a powerful change in our own lives so that our children do not have to live 'as if'.
