Remove the thermometer from the storage box. Press the on/off switch. During the internal self-test, the device displays all elements. The last measured temperature is then displayed for 5 seconds. The protective cap indicator flashes to indicate that a new cap needs to be installed. To allow for accurate measurements, it is important to install a new, clean protective cap before each measurement.
