Product description

Why do we stop and watch when we see the orange glow just before the sun sets? Or have you ever wondered why thousands of people flock to watch cherry blossom trees bloom in the spring? Is there a concrete reason why we are affected by babies, and why we smile for no reason when we see exploding confetti or colorful balloons? We have all been taught that the external environment around us hardly affects the joy within us. In recent years, in increasingly popular applications, experts suggest that we find balance within ourselves by abstracting ourselves from the external world through meditation or conscious awareness activities. What if the most efficient and accessible source of joy for us is hidden in the natural energy of the objects around us? Designer ingrid fetell lee explores the surprising and powerful effects of ordinary spaces and objects we encounter every day on our emotional state in "joy."

With examples from neuroscience and psychology studies, it explains why some environments make us feel anxious or competitive, while in others we feel joyful and social. most importantly, it tells us how we can use those around us to live a more fulfilling, healthy and joyful life.
