What is Loratadine/Pseudoephedrine and what is it used for? It contains a combination of two medicines, loratadine (an antihistamine) and pseudoephedrine (a decongestant).
Antihistamines help reduce allergy symptoms by blocking the effects of a substance called histamine.
The body produces histamine in response to foreign substances it is sensitive to.
Decongestants narrow blood vessels.
This leads to clearing a blocked or stuffy nose.
This combination relieves symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis, such as: nasal and sinus congestion, sneezing, runny nose, watery, itchy eyes.
Do not take Loratadine/Pseudoephedrine if you are allergic to loratadine/pseudoephedrine or any of the drug's components, glaucoma, difficulty urinating, severe high blood pressure, severe vascular disease, hyperthyroidism.
Warnings and Precautions: Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this combination if: you have eye problems (such as high eye pressure or glaucoma), you have stomach ulcers, you have intestinal obstruction, you have or bladder problems, you have , you have , you are 60 years or older, as older people may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug.
Possible Side Effects: Like all medicines, Loratadine/Pseudoephedrine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Most unwanted effects with this medicine were mild to moderate.
These include: difficulty sleeping, dry mouth, headache, drowsiness, nervousness, dizziness, fatigue.
Other Medicines and Loratadine/Pseudoephedrine: A large number of medicines can interact with loratadine/pseudoephedrine, which can significantly change their effects.
These medicines include: heart or blood pressure medicines, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (medicines used to treat depression), antacids, kaolin.
How to Take Loratadine/Pseudoephedrine: The ed dose of Loratadine/Pseudoephedrine for adults and children over 12 years is one tablet every 12 hours.
It does not matter if you take Loratadine/Pseudoephedrine before or after food.
Do not use in children under 12 years.
The tablet should be swallowed whole with a glass of water.
Do not crush, break, or chew the tablet before swallowing.
How to Store Loratadine/Pseudoephedrine: Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Keep your tablets in the blister pack in a dry place until it is time to take them.
Keep your tablets in a cool, dry place where the temperature remains below 25 degrees Celsius.
Do not store them or any other medicine in the bathroom or near the sink.
Do not leave them in the car on hot days or on window sills.
