Product Q&As
Okay, you tell me that MTE stands for mountain use, but another colleague of yours says that the same abbreviation stands for made for the elements! And if this designation indicates that it protects against external influences, what external influences does a pair of shorts labeled MTE protect against? Please do not take what I am saying as nitpicking; it is simply that different retailers provide different explanations, and so on, leaving one wondering whether to laugh or cry.
Answer from TNJ SPORTS
Hi, I understand and would be happy to answer your question. The MTE (Mountain Terrain Equipment or Made for the Elements) acronym refers to Vans' line of products built to withstand outdoor conditions. This series is produced using weatherproof materials. VANS MTE products are generally designed to protect against cold, rain and harsh weather conditions. Similarly, MTE shorts are made from more durable materials than regular shorts, providing greater protection against external factors such as moisture and light rain. I understand your confusion with the different descriptions. Both descriptions are actually correct, because the MTE series is designed for both mountain/terrain use and exposure to the elements (rain, cold, wind, etc.). designed to provide counter protection. We wish you happy, healthy days and pleasant shopping.
