Product description

The limitless and surreal world of hallucinations. sacks, who made his books read by thousands of readers worldwide, displays his unique writing style and approach in hallucinations: with works such as the man who mistook his wife for a hat, awakenings, migraine, and musicophilia, the world-renowned neurologist-writer oliver sacks takes readers into the mysterious, surprising, sometimes funny, and sometimes terrifying world of hallucinations in his latest book.

Rather than observing illnesses from a cold perspective and reducing them to a few symptoms, he focuses on each patient’s subjective experience (which he does not hesitate to share hallucinations of his own), does not ignore the cultural and religious context, and does not limit himself to the latest findings of contemporary medicine only, but also to the latest findings of contemporary medicine. Also benefits from the discoveries of the leading medical men of the century.

It shows how vast the world of hallucinations is, not just limited to visual field but also frequent hallucinations related to hearing, touch, smell, and even misperception of the body's position, while also eradicating the prejudice that most people who experience hallucinations are people with psychiatric problems. oliver sacks: when we read the stories of dozens of cases we encounter in the book, we see that these intruders can suddenly enter a person's daily life as a result of various causes such as migraine, vision loss, loss of limbs due to the death of a close one, and can turn this life into a riot or nightmare.

enriching the sacks review with submissions to literature and history.

Reading the story of hallucinations, which are unreal but flawlessly imitating reality, from sacks' pen leads to the effect created by all the enlightenment books: the human being wants to immediately go and tell someone else what he has read, to make others aware of the existence of the strange world he has witnessed (and this world, as described in all its breadth and colors by such a book). “sacks, who is wise, passionate, and always full of curiosity, is a physician who has long understood that medicine is not only a science but also an art.
