Yordam Kitap Duman

Product description

Suddenly, everything seemed to him like a smoke: his own life, russian life, human life, especially russian life seemed to him like a whole smoke.

'it's all smoke and steam,' he thought.

it was as if everything was changing without stopping.

everywhere, new faces, new forms appear, as if events were chasing each other.

whereas, in fact, everything was the same.

in everything, a movement, a rush was noticeable, everything was fleeting, without leaving a trace, without gaining access to anything. In his work, smoke, which was published in 1867, a few years after the land reform, turgenyev criticizes both the aristocratic environment, the slavophiles, and the intellectuals by looking at russia from europe.

the work, which has been discussed for a long time, especially with the criticism directed to the russian nobility and intellectuals, carries the feature of being one of the reflections of the conflict between turgenyev and dostoyevsky. Litvinov, waiting to meet his fiancé in baden-baden, germany, will meet many people here, enter different circles, and try to find his way in the smoke that envelops both minds and salons.

The novel, which skillfully reflects the dilemma and impasse of litvinov's hero, who falls between his fiancée promising him a dull but peaceful future and his former lover who conquers his selfhood with all the misery of his love, manages to be intriguing with the autobiographical elements it contains. Litvinov, who understands that he will have to make a choice between these two women, essentially his country and europe, therefore the future of the one he chooses, is looking for a different answer to the call of life than the one turgenyev gave. The yordam literature, which brings together classic work enthusiasts with meticulous translations of outstanding examples, presents this important work of turgenyev in the beautiful turkish of hasan ali ediz.
